Some people complain that 28 mm figures always look hard too paint and time consuming to paint to a standard that doesn't look like a 4 year old did them. At least that's how it was described to me once.

So I thought I would try to show how to can get a fairly quick result and professional looking or at least figures that look better than block painted basic painted figures. I will try to cover all points, so some things will seem a bit of overkill to some and not to others. The whole production process will at times look like a messy grind but with some of the new paints/washes and a few pointers it can take less time than you think.

So first step  for me is always the army list or at least some sort to plan on what you have to paint. The old story of painting things up that you will never use or wont use for a long time is a waist of time and can be expensive. Like painting a sturmtiger for bolt action and expecting to use it in a 500 paint game is a good example. If your not sure about what is cost effective ask someone who runs that army what they use, or ask online. It may sound simple but a lot of people just don't plan and end up with a lot of figures that they will never use and the cost for 28mm painted figures can be pretty large. Box sets by a lot of manufacturers being a case in point, some consisting of just plain rubbish that will never be used.

so first step

Do your home work!

Amazonian 15mm army added to store.

Posted by BW Designs on July 22, 2012 at 2:30 AM Comments comments (0)

I have just commpleted an Amazonian army in 15mm and added it to the store section. It contains approx 44 elements (88 figures) of skirmishers, 12 elements (36 figures) of Auxilla (Aux (I)), 6 elements (12 figures a mix of both eureka and modified grumpie miniatures) of blowpipe skirmishers (ps(X)), 4 elements of Bow Generals (12 figures), 12 elements of stakes and 8 elements of baggage, and 6 elements of boats (bt(I)) these being made up of eureka bowmen ridding irregular miniatures croc's (why because they look more interesting than just plain boats). 88 elements ( 263 figures) of bow figures by eureka, with a modified kurasanie sabertooth tiger (to look like a panther)

Most of the figures have been modified in some way either repositioned or dismembered and reposed or moded in some way. modelling/conversions and paint by BW designs.

Just go to the store section to check out the pictures it is huge, it's fun to play and comes with it's own jungle.

As always, just contact me if you want more pictures or information or have an offer of what you think you would like to pay.

Total cost $1200 ono free postage to Australia

Army has been based and painted with a coat of dull coat for protection.

Today for a change of pace making up a few buildings including a stable and working on a graveyard (one of those projects that never gets finished) for the game "Empire of the dead". Then onto a steam powered gyrocopter either from scratch or a mod, haven't decided yet.
